Taliban al-Emara Video Releases Up 59% in 2019 to Record High

The Taliban's al-Emara media arm increased its annual video release rate by 59% in 2019 to a new record high, according to data in the IntelCenter Database (ICD). Al-Emara released 312 videos or a video every 1.17 days in 2019 compared to 2018 with 196 releases or a video every 1.86 days. The 2019 increase accelerates a five-year upward trend.

Al-Emara is the most visible and highest volume producer of the Taliban's official media arms. During the 2009 to 2019 period, it released 841 videos, which amounts to more than 192 hours of footage with an average runtime of 0:13:42. The shortest video was 0:00:19 and the longest was 1:24:12.
